This will be the first of MANY 'emerging artist' posts from me. I love introducing people to new music and I also love helping up and coming artist get their name and music out there, especially since I know so many talented people who are doing great things that people need to hear about!
I had the pleasure of playing several shows with this band throughout the month of February. For such new kids on the block, this band has quite a bit of buzz around them in the LA music scene. But I guess it may be because they aren't exactly THAT new to the block... I've actually met 3 out of the 5 members previously while they were playing with other bands in years past. Landon Jacobs, Jason Suwito, and Hayden Coplen are members of Sir Sly, says their Facebook page, but I know that Chase Kensrue and Philippe Gutierrez play with the band live.
I must say it's not easy to find out much about them, they seem to be going for that 'air of mystery' vibe. As far as photos go, there's just not much to find on their socials. Not to mention, there isn't even music available for purchase yet from these guys at their shows. With just a few songs streaming online, and very recently a few added for purchase on iTunes, they're doing a pretty good job of producing decent amounts of people at their shows. I guess it doesn't hurt to have an all-star management team on your side to lead you in the right direction (which is Monotone Management, who reps the likes of Foster The People and Vampire Weekend). So far they are an independant artist, but word on the street is that it's not for lack of label interest. I'm sure it won't be long before someone snags them up.
The band will be at SXSW this week and I've heard talk of an upcoming headling tour this summer. Keep an eye on these guys, and check out their song 'Easy Now' below!
While at the Pomona stop of Warped Tour this year, Echosmith took some time to chat with us about being on the tour two years in a row, what new bands we should check out, their gratitude for signing to Warner Bros. Records, and what to expect from the band for the rest of the year. Watch the full video PV Q&A above.
